The Western Cape Government’s Mobility Department is offering two (x2) permanent employment opportunities for the position of Principal Provincial Inspector: Lecturer. Based in the Western Cape, this role offers a salary of R376,413 per annum (Level 08). The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating training for traffic officers, assessing learners, and performing supervisory functions.Key requirements include a Grade 12 certificate, a Basic Traffic Diploma, 6-10 years of relevant experience in traffic training or law enforcement, a valid code A and EC driving licence, and a clean criminal record. Essential competencies include in-depth knowledge of traffic legislation, outcome-based education principles, and strong facilitation, communication, and people management skills.Applications must be submitted online by the closing date of 03 March 2025. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (Senior certificate or equivalent qualification); Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma; A minimum of 6-10 years relevant experience in a traffic training and development and/or traffic law enforcement working environment; A valid code A and EC driving licence; No criminal record.
  • Competencies: Knowledge of the following: Operational functioning of the Directorate Traffic Training and Development; National Qualifications Framework(NQF); South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA); Outcome-based education (OBE) principles; Departmental Workplace Skills Plan (WSP);National Road Traffic Amendment Act, 2008 (Act 64 of 2008); National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000; National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000;Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act 51 of 1977); Skills needed: Computer literacy; Written and verbal communication; Research; Interpersonal; Training and Facilitation; Presentation; Mentoring and Coaching; Interpretation; Observation; Planning; Organising; Monitoring; People Management; Decision-making; Results and Quality Management Problem-solving; Writing and Reporting; Motivational; Analytical Operational; Innovation.

All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department.
Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment (in compliance with the DPSA directive on the implementation of competency-based assessments).
The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS Competency Assessment tools.
The nominated candidate will be required to complete the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme before they may be appointed into this post.
The purpose of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme, which is a public service specific training programme applicable to all applicants who aspire to join the SMS, is to ensure that potential SMS members have a background on processes and procedures linked to the SMS.
The duration of the online Pre-Entry Programme is 120 notional hours (15 days).
