The Facilities Division at Naval Base Simon’s Town is seeking a dedicated and skilled Artisan Supervisor to lead its Painting Workshop. Key Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess an appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Have at least 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in a Painting Workshop is a significant advantage.
- Project Management experience is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (both written and verbal) and compile documentation.
- Strong skills in planning, organising, problem-solving, and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job requirements.
- Knowledge of the Public Service Act, safety regulations, and legal compliance.
- Excellent time management and advanced analytical thinking skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Repairing, maintaining, and upgrading harbours and facilities.
- Managing the workload, staff, and procurement of equipment and materials for the Marine/Diving Workshops.
- Supervising, training, and assessing subordinates.
- Administering and managing relevant documentation.

Important Notes for Applicants:

- The Z83 form must be accompanied by a detailed CV. Do not submit certified copies initially.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months) before the interview.

- Each application for a different post must be on a separate Z83 form.
- The successful candidate will be subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset checks, qualification and employment verification) and security clearance.
- Appointment will be on a probationary period of 12 months.
