Are you an experienced Engineering Technician with a passion for naval operations and technical specification? The South African Navy’s Fleet Command Headquarters is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join their Naval Engineering Services team in the picturesque Simon’s Town. Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 6 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- A valid driver’s license.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven experience in an Engineering Specification field.
- In-depth knowledge of planning logistic support analysis, specification practices, and engineering baselines.
- Experience in naval design work and developing logistic support plans.
- The ability to read and understand specifications, technical drawings, and documents.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, project management, and financial management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will be varied and critical to operations, including:
- Providing a comprehensive Technical Material Specification service.
- Developing and verifying Technical Material Specification Plans.
- Offering specialist services in the development of technical specifications.
- Managing Technical Material Specification personnel effectively.

Important Notes for Applicants
- Applications must be submitted on the prescribed Z83 form (effective 01 January 2021), obtainable from any Public Service Department or the DPSA website. Applications on the incorrect form will be disqualified.
- The Z83 form must be originally signed, dated, and accompanied by a detailed CV.
- Do not submit certified copies with your application. Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified documents (not older than six months) before the interview.
- Applications received after the closing date, or faxed copies, will NOT be considered.
- The successful candidate will be subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal record, citizenship, financial/asset checks, qualification verification) and security clearance processes.
