Position Details
- Job Title: Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) Grade 1 to 3
- Location: Support & Outreach Beaufort West PHC, Beaufort West Sub-district, Central Karoo District

Remuneration: Competitive Government Salary Scales
Your salary will be determined by your experience and current registration grade:
- Grade 1: R250,947 per annum (No experience required after registration)
- Grade 2: R290,436 per annum (Minimum 5 years of experience)
- Grade 3: R313,308 per annum (Minimum 13 years of experience)
Who Should Apply? Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: A Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification that allows registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist Assistant (Post-Basic) (Institutional).
- Registration: You must be currently registered with the SAPC in the required category.
- Experience: As outlined above for each grade.
- Inherent Requirements: A valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and a readiness to work at other clinics within the sub-district.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of institutional pharmacy practices and drug supply management.
- Experience in handling pharmaceutical supplies, including cold chain management.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Experience with Wellsky (JAC) dispensing software is a major advantage.
- Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Knowledge of Essential Medicines Lists and treatment guidelines.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a vital member of the healthcare team, your duties will include:
- Assisting with the interpretation, preparation, and dispensing of prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Providing patients with instructions on the correct use of their medicine and promoting health information.
- Managing the ordering, distribution, and control of medicine and scheduled substances.
- Assisting with the compounding of medicines according to approved formulas.
- Supporting administrative tasks, financial expenditure tracking, and the collation of statistics.
- Ensuring all duties are performed within your approved scope of practice.
