Opportunity: Deputy Director of Interpreting Services

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the pivotal role of Deputy Director: Interpreting Services. This senior position, based at the National Office in Pretoria, is a chance to shape and coordinate essential services within the South African judicial system.

- Salary: R849,702 – R1,000,908 per annum (all-inclusive remuneration package). The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.

Are You Qualified?
Requirements: To be considered for this role, you will need:
- An appropriate NQF level 6 qualification or degree recognized by SAQA in Legal Interpreting & Translation, Language Practice, BA in Language, Journalism, or Linguistics.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Court Interpreting environment at an Assistant Director (management) level.
- In-depth knowledge of the legislative frameworks governing the Public Service, including the Public Service Act, Treasury Regulations, and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Knowledge of Criminal, Civil, Family, and Constitutional law cases, as well as Court Operations.
Key Competencies: The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in:Strategic thinking, budgeting and financial management, communication, project management, conflict management, problem-solving, and computer literacy.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Duties: As the Deputy Director, your key performance areas will include:
- Coordinating and managing the delivery of court interpreting services nationwide.
- Engaging and managing relationships with key stakeholders in the justice sector.
- Coordinating and monitoring the implementation of court interpreting policies to ensure consistency and quality.
- Driving the operational efficiency of court interpreting services.
- Managing human, financial, and other resources within the unit effectively.
