About the Role
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Project Manager for the African Renaissance Fund (ARF). This is a critical role that involves assisting in the facilitation and management of international projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently from initiation to closure. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting South Africa’s developmental objectives on the continent.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of an NQF level 6 or 7 qualification in Project Management, Business Administration, or Finance.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a project environment, with three of those years at a supervisory level.
- Experience with implementing international projects is a significant advantage.
- Extensive knowledge of the legislative framework governing the Public Service, project management principles, and financial management.
Key Competencies: Strategic leadership, financial management, people management, report writing, policy analysis, negotiation, problem-solving, and excellent communication skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The appointed candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting in project management and strategic planning processes.
- Managing project resources and overseeing execution from initiation to closure.
- Tracking project spending against the approved budget and providing regular status reports.
- Receiving and evaluating project proposals for the Advisory Committee.
- Identifying and resolving project risks to ensure quality deliverables.
- Establishing project steering committees and auditing projects for compliance.
- Assisting in developing standard operating procedures and frameworks for project governance.
