Who Should Apply? The Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification).
  • A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.

Recommendations (Advantageous):

  • A Community Development Learnership Certificate.
  • A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
  • Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, are encouraged to apply.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge of relevant public service policies, legislation, and best practices.
  • Understanding of community compositions and functioning in the Western Cape.
  • Skills in facilitating public participation.
  • Strong project organisation, interpersonal, report writing, and reporting skills.
  • Proven computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Your Key Responsibilities: The Duties

As the Community Development Worker, your core duties will include:

  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive municipal monitoring tool.
  • Collecting, validating, and evaluating municipal data and information related to performance.
  • Ensuring the development of a database and disseminating information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Drafting the annual municipal performance report in terms of the Municipal Systems Act.
  • Assisting with the management of human resources and performance within the sub-directorate.
