Who Should Apply? The Requirements
This senior role demands a high-caliber candidate with a strong academic and professional background. The ideal applicant will possess:
- An appropriate B-degree (NQF 7) majoring in Accounting and Auditing.
- A minimum of five (5) years of management experience in internal audit or a relevant field.
- Recommendation: Being a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) will be a strong advantage.
The role requires advanced knowledge of internal audit strategy, the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, and a deep understanding of the political and economic landscape affecting the public sector. Key competencies also include expertise in public finance, people management, and labour relations legislation.
Your Key Responsibilities: The Duties
As the Director, you will be at the helm of the internal audit function, with duties spanning several critical areas:
- Line & Strategic Management: Review and guide the development of risk-based 3-year strategic and annual operational audit plans. Ensure audit engagements are aligned with key control objectives and risks.
- Quality Assurance: Drive the Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme, review final reports, and engage with executive management and audit committees on audit quality and findings.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key liaison with executive management, the Auditor-General, and audit committees, presenting reports and contributing to integrated assurance.
- Financial Management: Assume direct accountability for the efficient and effective control of the directorate’s budget and expenditure.
- People Management: Lead, motivate, and manage the performance of your team to maintain excellence in service delivery.
