The Western Cape Government’s Department of the Premier is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to fill the role of Project Office Manager. This is a pivotal senior position where you will be at the helm of ensuring that critical ICT projects deliver maximum value and align with the province’s strategic objectives.

  • Salary: R849,702 per annum (Level 11)

Are You the Ideal Candidate? Key Requirements:

To be considered for this prestigious role, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Education: An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher) in Project Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience within an ICT environment.
  • Recommendations: A valid driving license (code B or higher) and a Project Management Certificate are highly advantageous.
  • Competencies: A strong knowledge base in portfolio, programme, and project management (PMBOK, PRINCE2), Enterprise ICT, SCM, budgeting, and relevant legislation (PFMA, SITA Act, etc.) is essential. The role demands excellent communication, strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Your Key Responsibilities:

As the Project Office Manager, your duties will be central to the department’s success:

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee programmes and projects to ensure they align with and deliver on strategic organisational goals.
  • Portfolio Governance: Establish and maintain high standards, methodologies, and best practices for project management.
  • Resource Management: Optimise the allocation of resources (human and capital) across the portfolio for maximum efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Risk & Performance Management: Identify and mitigate project risks while tracking performance metrics to drive data-informed improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation, lessons learned, and the adoption of new tools and techniques.
