Position Details
- Post: Radiographer Grade 1 to 3 (Diagnostic)
- Centre: Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, Rondebosch

Remuneration: Competitive Salary Packages
The positions offer attractive government salary scales, commensurate with experience and grade:
- Grade 1: R376,524 per annum
- Grade 2: R439,755 per annum
- Grade 3: R514,785 per annum
Requirements
Minimum Qualification & Registration:
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer in Diagnostic Radiography.
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Diagnostic Radiographer is mandatory.
Experience Required:
- Grade 1: No experience required after registration for RSA-qualified staff. 1 year for foreign-qualified staff exempt from Community Service.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 10 years experience for RSA-qualified; 11 years for foreign-qualified.
- Grade 3: Minimum of 20 years experience for RSA-qualified; 21 years for foreign-qualified.
Inherent Job Requirements & Competencies:
- Ability to render a 40-hour week, including after-hours, weekend, and night duty rotations.
- Knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
- Must maintain HPCSA registration.
- Proficiency in radiation protection, quality assurance, and equipment safety.
- Skilled in providing paediatric radiography services independently and within a team.
- Experience with Digital Radiography, CT, Fluoroscopy, Theatre, and mobile imaging.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) and excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Must comply with National Core Standards and possess good time management skills.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing a high-quality radiographic service for paediatric patients to produce diagnostic images.
- Delivering optimal and compassionate patient care.
- Performing imaging in specialized areas including CT Scans, Digital Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Theatre, DR Mobiles, Panorex, and Lodox.
- Ensuring the optimal use and care of equipment and performing daily quality checks.
- Participating in personal, departmental, and hospital in-service training programs.
- Providing relief and support to colleagues and supervisors as needed.
