Position Details
- Position: Communication Officer
- Directorate: Communications
- Salary: R376,413 per annum
- Location: Head Office, Cape Town (Stationed at Groote Schuur Hospital)

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Education: An appropriate three-year National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing.
- Experience: Appropriate experience in a communication, public relations, or media environment. This should include:
- Building and managing client and stakeholder relationships.
- Developing visual communication products.
- Media, reputation, and response management.
- Internal communication and brand management.
- Developing and executing communication campaigns.
- Inherent Job Requirements:
- A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside regular office hours and to travel for work.
Required Competencies & Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in brand and reputation management.
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders from all levels.
- Proven media liaison abilities.
- Excellent written and visual content development skills.
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of critical functions, including:
- Communication Management: Developing and executing an annual communication plan, managing the hospital’s brand, photography, and proactive storytelling to enhance its image and reputation.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with the Groote Schuur Hospital Board, Trust, and the hospital management team to support the annual operational plan.
- Reputation Management & Media Liaison: Handling media queries, writing media releases, conducting media monitoring, managing risks, and organizing events.
- Content Development: Creating and testing various communication materials, including reports, newsflashes, newsletters, position statements, and social media posts.
- Project & Event Management: Overseeing people, events, and specific communication projects.
