Who Should Apply? Key Requirements

To be considered for this supervisory role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • A Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) certificate with three to five (3 – 5) years’ relevant experience in a finance environment.
  • Any appropriate mainframe or system courses will be highly beneficial.
  • Significant Advantage: A Grade 12 with Finance/Accounting subjects OR a three-year B Degree/National Diploma in Finance/Accounting, coupled with 3-5 years of relevant working experience at a post level 5.
  • Essential Skills:
    • Formal training and knowledge of financial management in the Public Service or Private Sector.
    • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
    • Computer literacy, especially in Microsoft packages.
    • Knowledge of Public Financial Management (PFMA), Departmental Financial Systems (FMS), and Standard Chart of Accounts.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As an Accounting Clerk Supervisor, your duties will be diverse and critical to the division’s success. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive financial management and budget control services.
  • Supporting the execution of financial plans and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
  • Ensuring strict compliance with budget management policies and the delegation regime.
  • Operating and providing services on the FMS (Financial Management System) mainframe.
  • Preparing and capturing the Estimate of Expenditure (EOE).
  • Providing expert financial advice to support informed decision-making by budget holders.
  • Extracting, interpreting, and distributing financial reports to clients.
  • Supporting financial governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) processes.
  • Administering allocated resources and contributing to human resource components within budget management.
