Who Should Apply? The Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 (NQF 4) plus a three-year Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) or National Diploma (NQF 6) in Finance, Accounting, or Cost & Management Accounting.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a budget management environment at a level equivalent to a Senior State Accountant (Level 8).
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Formal training in financial management (Public Service or Private Sector).
- Knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, and HR management.
- Intermediate communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven computer literacy (MS Office) and knowledge of public financial management.
- Essential knowledge of Departmental Financial Management systems (FMS), report writing, Standard Chart of Accounts, and service writing.
- Knowledge of Auditing, Risk Management, and Supply Chain Management will be a distinct advantage.
Your Key Responsibilities (Duties)
As an Assistant Director, your role will be multifaceted and critical to the division’s success. Key duties include:
- Providing comprehensive financial management and advisory services within your Area of Responsibility (AoR).
- Controlling the execution of the financial plan and applying budget management policies.
- Facilitating the financial aspects of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) planning process.
- Providing expenditure and revenue budget control, ensuring compliance with all prescripts and regulations.
- Developing and interpreting financial reports to support managerial decision-making.
- Managing financial governance, risk, and compliance, including addressing audit queries.
- Administering allocated human and other resources effectively.
