Are you a seasoned Human Resources professional with a passion for performance management and development? The Department of Labour is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the critical role of Assistant Director: Performance Management. This is a senior opportunity to shape and manage performance systems at a national level.

About the Role

This position is based at the Head Office in Pretoria and is central to the administration and strategic management of performance systems across the department. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance and effectiveness in how employee performance is managed and developed.

Key Requirements

To be considered for this prestigious role, you must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

  • A three-year National Diploma (NQF6) or an Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in one of the following fields:
    • Human Resources Management
    • Human Resources Development / Training and Development
    • Management of Training
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ functional experience in Performance Management.
  • Of those five years, two (2) years must have been at an Assistant Director level or equivalent.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of the Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Treasury Regulations, PMDS Policy, Labour Relations Act, and Batho Pele Principles. Crucial skills include:

  • Strategic and Financial Management
  • Facilitation and Presentation
  • Computer Literacy
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving and Planning & Organizing

Key Responsibilities (Duties)

  • Manage the administration of the individual performance management committee system.
  • Oversee and administer the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) for both SMS (Senior Management Service) and levels SR1-12.
  • Coordinate and facilitate support for Committee Services within the branch.
  • Manage the PMDS SMARTGOV platform.
  • Develop, review, and manage the implementation of PMDS policies and processes to ensure full compliance with legislation.
