The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the critical role of Assistant Finance Manager at the Assistant Director level. About the Role
This position is based in Pretoria and offers a competitive salary package. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing internal control services, ensuring compliance with financial legislation, and providing strategic financial advice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented leader passionate about public finance and project management.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A minimum of an NQF level 6/7 qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Cost Accounting.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a finance environment, with a minimum of three years at a supervisory level. Experience in project management finance and the preparation of Annual Financial Statements is essential.
- Knowledge: A deep understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service, including the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, Division of Revenue Act, GRAP, and GAAP. Knowledge of government systems and foreign currency is advantageous.
- Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. Must be computer literate and highly organized.
Key Responsibilities
The duties of the Assistant Finance Manager will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and monitoring Internal Control services for optimal resource utilization.
- Overseeing expenditure management and monthly project funding reconciliations.
- Preparing annual budgets and monitoring spending.
- Compiling quarterly financial statements in line with GRAP standards.
- Ensuring compliance with all financial prescripts (PFMA, Supply Chain Procedures, etc.).
- Assisting in the development of financial policies and procedures.
- Conducting cost-benefit analyses to ensure value for money.
- Providing periodic financial reports and advising the secretariat and board on investment opportunities.
