The Western Cape Government Health Department is seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to fill the critical role of Assistant Manager Nursing (Head of Nursing Services) at Riversdale Hospital. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide strategic leadership and shape the quality of care in the Garden Route District.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this senior position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: A basic R425 qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing with midwifery) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Registration: Current registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Experience: A minimum of 8 years of recognizable experience in nursing after SANC registration. This must include at least 3 years of experience at a management level.
- Inherent Requirements: A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB) and a willingness to travel and deal with after-hours calls.
- Competencies: Computer literacy (MS Office), exceptional communication and conflict management skills, knowledge of relevant health legislation, and strong organisational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
As the Head of Nursing Services, your role will be multifaceted and essential to the hospital’s operation:
- Provide strategic guidance and leadership to achieve the nursing division’s goals.
- Monitor the implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Offer professional, technical, and management support to coordinate nursing care programs.
- Champion nursing ethos and professionalism across the institution.
- Manage human, financial, and physical resources efficiently using information technology systems.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to Operational Managers within the hospital.
