Essential Requirements:
- An appropriate Degree (NQF Level 7) or higher qualification recognised by SAQA.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at a Senior Managerial level.
- A valid driving licence (or alternative transport for persons with disabilities).
- Willingness to complete the Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS) upon appointment.
Recommendations (Advantageous):
- A post-graduate qualification in Public Management, Alternate Dispute Resolution, or a Law-related field.
- Proven experience at a Senior Management level specifically in Traffic Law Enforcement or Road Safety Management.
Core Competencies and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices. Key competencies include:
- Strategic Capability and Leadership
- People Management and Empowerment
- Financial Management (including PFMA and Treasury Regulations)
- Programme and Project Management
- Skills in Strategic Planning, Legal Administration, and Collaborative Relationship Building.
Your Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Director, your role will be multifaceted and impactful. Your duties will include:
- Managing an effective and integrated Traffic Law Enforcement Service.
- Overseeing the development and delivery of quality outcomes-based learning programmes for traffic policing agencies.
- Ensuring the integration of all Road Safety interventions to promote greater voluntary compliance with road rules.
- Providing strategic leadership, managing change, and leading people within the chief directorate.
- Actively participating in and overseeing the Financial Management practices of the unit.
