About the Role
As the Chief Network Technologist, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, and maintenance of the network infrastructure that supports schools in the Western Cape. You will lead a team and manage contractors to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable ICT services that are crucial for modern education.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher) in IT or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in network infrastructure management.
- Recommendations:
- A valid (Code B or higher) driving license. (Note: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.)
- ITIL v3 or higher certification is advantageous.
- Competencies: The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of networks, ICT infrastructure, technical standards, and project management. Key skills include strategic planning, problem-solving, conflict management, and excellent coordination abilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and control the activities of staff and contractors developing ICT infrastructure.
- Implement quality control measures for all network-related projects.
- Develop, maintain, and oversee the network infrastructure.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation, including training manuals and technical reports.
- Liaise with various client departments to understand their needs and ensure service delivery aligns with their priorities.
