The Department of the Premier in the Western Cape Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the critical role of Deputy Director within its Forensic Investigations Cluster. This senior position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team, tackle complex cases, and play a vital role in promoting clean governance and accountability.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A 3-year B-Degree or higher qualification in Forensics, Commerce, Law, or Auditing.
- A minimum of 6 years of functional experience in forensic investigations OR 3 years of management experience in a forensic services/commercial crime environment.
- A valid code B driving licence.
Recommendations (Advantageous):
- Experience in forensic investigations within the public sector.
- B.Com/Honours in Forensic Accountancy.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Forensic Practitioner (CFP) designation.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge: National, provincial, and departmental legislation, policies, and procedures; Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication; advanced analytical, problem-solving, and fact-finding abilities; proven computer literacy; strong interviewing and statement-taking skills; ability to develop and maintain professional networks; factual and legal analysis; planning, organizing, and people management.
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning and executing complex forensic investigations, ensuring thorough fact-finding and evidence retrieval.
- Project managing multiple investigations simultaneously, prioritizing based on urgency and risk.
- Managing, mentoring, and providing clear guidance to a team of investigators.
- Drafting and reviewing detailed factual reports with appropriate findings and recommendations, and conducting follow-ups.
- Testifying as an expert witness in disciplinary hearings and criminal trials.
- Performing fraud prevention and detection functions.
- Developing and maintaining professional relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
