Are you an experienced legal professional with a passion for public service and a background in management? The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the critical role of Deputy Director: Maintenance Services at its National Office in Pretoria.

Position Details

  • Reference Number: REFNO: 25/29/CA
  • Salary: R849,702 – R1,000,908 per annum (all-inclusive remuneration package). The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.
  • Centre: National Office, Pretoria

Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements

To be considered for this senior management position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate NQF level 7 qualification: LLB Degree, B Proc, B Com Law, or B Juris.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Administrative, Civil, or Criminal law within the Justice System at an Assistant Director (management) level or higher.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Public Service legislative framework, including the Public Service Act, Treasury Regulations, PFMA, and Departmental Financial Instructions.
  • Expert understanding of Constitutional law, Criminal, Civil, and family cases, Court Operations, the Children’s Act, and the Maintenance Act.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Key Competencies: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong skills in strategic thinking, financial management, communication, conflict management, project management, and computer literacy.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the Deputy Director, your duties will include:

  • Facilitating and developing the implementation of Maintenance Services policy, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of maintenance services procedures.
  • Managing stakeholder relations to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Managing human, financial, and other resources within the unit efficiently.
