The Western Cape Government’s Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a dynamic and experienced IT leader to fill a critical role at its Head Office in Cape Town. Position Overview

- Directorate: Information Technology, Administration (Health Systems)
- Salary: R849,702 per annum
- Centre: Head Office, Cape Town

Key Requirements
To be considered for this senior role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Education: An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree).
- Driver’s License: A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence is an inherent requirement.
- Experience: Appropriate experience in Information Management, Systems Development, and Technology.
Essential Competencies and Knowledge:
- Proven ability to lead IT teams and communicate effectively.
- Deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Hands-on knowledge and experience in Agile Methodologies.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture standards and frameworks.
- Experience in implementing best practices in systems development.
- Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and regulations, or a strong willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Financial and Resource Management.
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite and development tools like Azure DevOps.
Key Responsibilities
As the Deputy Director, your duties will be central to the department’s IT strategy:
- Provide leadership to the Systems Development component within the IT Directorate.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate projects aligned with the department’s strategic IT vision.
- Ensure synergy between different IT sub-directorates and the Chief Directorate for Strategy.
- Develop operational plans and coordinate strategic workshops for your team.
- Drive continuous improvement in Business Analysis and Development projects.
- Apply technology policies and implement frameworks like Agile across development teams.
- Manage the sub-directorate’s finances and human resources effectively.
- Facilitate collaboration between teams to achieve project goals.
