The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is seeking a dynamic and strategic individual to fill the critical role of Director: Curriculum FET. This senior position offers a unique opportunity to influence curriculum policy, support teachers, and enhance learning outcomes across the province.
About the Role
As the Director, you will be at the helm of developing and coordinating FET curriculum policy frameworks, subjects, and learning programmes. Your primary mission will be to enable effective curriculum delivery in schools by creating robust systems and guidelines for subject advisers, ultimately empowering teachers in the classroom.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, you must meet the following criteria:
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 7) as recognised by SAQA.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at a middle/senior managerial level.
- Successful completion of the Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS).
- A valid driver’s licence.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge in: public policy analysis, strategy development and management, public finance, modern governance systems, and people management. Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will be diverse and impactful, including:
- Managing curriculum development initiatives and research for FET subjects.
- Contributing to national curriculum policy development.
- Developing policy documents, guidelines, and professional learning materials.
- Overseeing the implementation of support initiatives in collaboration with District offices.
- Managing the planning and provision of e-Support and e-Resources for subjects.
- Leading and managing the directorate’s strategic planning, budgeting, and human resources.
