Engineering Technician (Radio Systems) – Fleet Command HQ

Salary: R391 671 – R418 332 per annum

Requirements
To be considered for this challenging and unique role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license. Own transport is required.
- Compulsory Registration: Current registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- Must be medically and psychologically able to work in an underground location with mechanical air supply and artificial lighting.
- Willingness to perform shift work and overtime (including days, nights, and weekends) in an Underground Facility.
Skills and Knowledge (Advantageous):
- Exposure to High Power Transmitters / RF systems.
- Proven ability to fault-find to electronic component level and effect repairs.
- Knowledge of Thermionic Emission principles.
- Proficiency in using electronic test equipment and interpreting technical drawings.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and computer-aided engineering applications.
- Ability to write detailed technical reports and communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and legal compliance.
- Supervisory, time management, conflict management, and project planning skills.
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and repairing High Power communications equipment and their peripherals.
- Ensuring high-quality Radio Frequency (RF) transmission.
- Supervising the work of subordinates.
- Implementing corrective action on essential support equipment (e.g., Diesel generators, power distribution systems, air cooling systems).
- Performing necessary administrative and related functions.
