The South African Navy’s Fleet Command is seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to join their team in the beautiful coastal town of Simon’s Town. Key Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Compulsory Registration: Current registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience in a Design Environment, Logistic Support, or Logistic Elements (advantageous).
- Essential knowledge of maintenance planning, Integrated Logistic Support Systems, and Engineering and Support Baselines.
- Proficiency in computer-aided engineering applications and the MS Office suite.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and compile technical reports in English.
- Knowledge of project management, research and development, and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Participating in the establishment and maintenance of Support Baselines for all current systems in the SA Navy.
- Identifying and assessing existing support infrastructure within the SA Navy.
- Contributing to the technical integrity and operational readiness of naval systems.
