Who Should Apply? Key Requirements

This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of formal education, significant experience, and specific knowledge:

  • Education: A Matric/ Grade 12 certificate plus an undergraduate Diploma or Degree (NQF level 6/7) in Public Administration, Management, or a relevant field.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience at an entry-level management position (e.g., Assistant Director level).
  • Critical Knowledge:
    • Working knowledge of the South African political and parliamentary process.
    • Broad understanding of the functional areas within the Minister’s portfolio.
    • Proven experience in policy analysis and development.
    • Knowledge of Ministry operations is a distinct advantage.
  • Essential Skills: Computer literacy, exceptional written and verbal communication, proven management competencies, excellent planning, resource management, and the ability to work in a team under pressure. Willingness to travel is required.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, your duties will be central to the Ministry’s operations:

  • Monitor proceedings in Parliament and the legislature to identify issues impacting the Minister’s portfolio.
  • Track events in Cabinet and the Executive Council relevant to the department.
  • Render an efficient and effective Parliamentary service.
  • Co-ordinate and manage logistics and movements between the Pretoria and Cape Town offices, especially during Parliamentary sessions.
  • Ensure correct application and understanding of relevant Public Service and departmental prescripts and policies.
