  • Contract Duration: 5 Years
  • Salary: R949,146 per annum
  • Location: Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory, Cape Town

Who Should Apply? The Key Requirements

To be considered for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
  • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. (Candidates applying for registration may also be considered if they provide proof of application and payment by the interview date).
  • A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
  • Compulsory commuted overtime.
  • FCS (SA) Part 1A and Part 1B qualifications.
  • Substantial clinical experience post-MBChB and internal rotations.
  • Proven knowledge and expertise in providing Plastic Surgery services.
  • Previous experience as a Registrar in General Surgery or as a Medical Officer in Plastic Surgery is highly advantageous.
  • Strong research experience and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure team environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be integral to the hospital’s surgical unit, with duties encompassing:

  • Clinical Service: Providing exceptional operative and patient care.
  • Clinical Governance & Leadership: Contributing to the high standards of medical practice and patient safety.
  • Teaching: Participating in the education and training of junior staff and students.
  • Research: Engaging in and contributing to clinical research within the field.

Please note that while appointed to a specific complex, you may be required to work across different platforms as needed.
