  • Contract Duration: 24 Months
  • Salary: R1,271,901 per annum

Who Should Apply? Essential Requirements

To be considered for this transformative role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or Paediatric Surgery.
  • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in one of the above fields.
  • Possession of FCPaed and/or MMed (Paed) is an inherent requirement of the job.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Proven experience in general paediatrics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to supervise medical officers and rotating registrars.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and within a multi-disciplinary team.

Your Role and Responsibilities

This position is designed for clinical, academic, and professional growth. Your duties will include:

  • Clinical Service Delivery: Providing in-patient care and participating in a 16-hour per week commuted overtime roster.
  • Teaching: Educating undergraduate students, nursing staff, and rotating registrars/medical officers.
  • Research: Registering for an MPhil in Paediatric Critical Care with UCT and conducting a research project, alongside involvement in existing studies.
  • Administration: Assisting with monthly registrar duty rosters and weekly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
