Exciting Artisan Opportunity with the South African Navy

Location: Fleet Command HQ: Radio Station Goedverwacht, Durbanville
The South African Navy is seeking two highly skilled and experienced Artisans to join the team at the Radio Station Goedverwacht in Durbanville. This is a unique opportunity for a qualified technician to work in a critical and technical environment.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Possess an Appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- Have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities to a component level.
- Knowledge of Thermionic Emission principles.
- Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams.
- Proven communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Computer literacy (MS Office and computer-aided technical applications).
- Supervision, management, and planning skills.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and Legal Compliance.
- Ability to write detailed technical reports.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and repairing communications equipment and their peripherals.
- Implementing corrective actions on essential equipment like diesel generators and power distribution systems.
- Supervising contractors’ work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Performing any other tasks delegated by superiors.
Important Notes & Work Environment
Please be aware of the following critical job details:
- Own transport is required.
- You must be able to work in an underground location with mechanical air and lighting.
- The role requires performing shift work and overtime, including days, nights, and weekends.
