The South African Navy’s Fleet Command HQ is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Engineering Technician to join its Naval Engineering Services division in the historic and strategic naval town of Simon’s Town. Key Requirements
To be considered for this pivotal role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification technical experience.
- Registration: Current compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is essential.
- Special Skills: Proven experience in a Constructive/Mechanical engineering field is essential.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of ship structures, Class, and IMO rules and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, CAD/Caddie, and other design software.
- Ability to compile and present technical reports and draft Engineering drawings.
- Strong planning, organising, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of writing specifications, project management, and legal compliance.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Design Technician, your duties will be diverse and impactful, including:
- Executing system and subsystem advice and defects analysis services.
- Developing integrated concepts and detailed designs.
- Overseeing acceptance and trials services for engineering projects.
- Managing projects and tasks to ensure they are completed on time and to specification.
