Are you an experienced Artisan Foreman with a proven track record in technical design and project management? The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join its Facilities Division in the picturesque Simon’s Town. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise in a critical and dynamic environment.

Remuneration

A competitive annual salary package between R480 261 and R547 635 is offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of formal qualifications and extensive practical experience. Key requirements include:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical, Constructive, or Electrical).
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Exceptional technical skills, including:
    • Detailing of design drawings and excellent ability with detail design.
    • Writing Specifications and Statements of Works.
    • Technical report writing and repair investigations.
    • Good knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD).
    • Ability to perform technical calculations accurately.
  • Strong project management, technical design, and analysis knowledge.
  • Proven leadership, supervision, and financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel).
  • Advanced communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
  • Advanced analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties:

  • Surveying sites for project planning and execution.
  • Preparing and updating working drawings and \”As Built\” drawings.
  • Undertaking general Drawing Office duties.
  • Acting as a Team Leader within the Drawing Office, providing guidance and supervision.
