Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this senior role, candidates must meet the following non-negotiable criteria:
- An LLB Degree.
- Admitted to practice as an Attorney or Advocate in the High Court of South Africa.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of appropriate post-admission legal experience.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of a wide range of legislation, including but not limited to:
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, Public Service Act & Regulations.
- Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (PAJA) & Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA).
- Constitutional Law, Labour Relations Act (LRA), and Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).
Critical skills required include strategic planning, advanced communication, financial management, project management, negotiation, and analytical thinking.
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive legal advisory services to the Department.
- Managing and overseeing all litigation involving the Department.
- Administering access to information requests in line with PAIA.
- Vetting and providing legal opinions on legislation, contracts, and departmental policies.
- Managing the human and financial resources of the Chief Directorate effectively.
