The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Artisan Foreman to join its team at the Naval Armament Depot in the historic and strategic location of Simon’s Town. Who Should Apply? The Key Requirements
This is a senior role requiring a substantial level of experience and a specific skill set. To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Experience in an Electrical Weapons Systems environment is highly preferred.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Technical report writing and project management.
- Proficiency in computer-aided technical applications.
- Knowledge of legal compliance, financial management, and technical design.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, change management, and planning skills.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As an Artisan Foreman, your duties will be diverse and critical to the depot’s operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising workshop personnel and managing their workload effectively.
- Ensuring internal training and development of staff.
- Handling general administration tasks and job-card administration via the OSIS computer system.
- Assisting in budget preparation, management, and spending of allocated funds.
- Controlling stores and spares inventory.
- Attending relevant operational meetings.
- Performing building manager duties.
