Are you an experienced artisan with proven leadership skills? The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Artisan Foreman to join its team at the Naval Armament Depot in the picturesque Simon’s Town. Remuneration
A competitive annual salary package between R480 261 – R547 635 is offered, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Requirements
To be considered for this pivotal role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
- A valid driver’s license.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and computer-aided technical applications.
- Advanced ability to communicate effectively in English (both written and verbal).
- Strong technical report writing, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership, supervision, and project management capabilities.
- Knowledge of financial management, legal compliance, production processes, and change management.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be entrusted with a range of critical duties, including:
- Performing administrative duties for the section.
- Training and developing subordinates.
- Updating and improving systems and equipment.
- Managing quality standards and ensuring safety and security protocols are maintained.
- Assisting with budget requirements and providing supervisory oversight.

Important Notes for Applicants

- The Z83 form must be originally signed, dated, and accompanied by a detailed CV.
- Faxed, photocopied, or incorrectly completed Z83 forms will not be considered.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months) before the interview.
- Successful candidates will be subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (including criminal record, citizenship, and financial checks), security clearance, and a 12-month probation period.
