Are you a seasoned artisan with strong leadership skills? The South African Navy, Naval Base Durban, is seeking a highly experienced and qualified Artisan Foreman to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a dynamic and critical environment.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, candidates must meet the following non-negotiable requirements:
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Extensive experience in a Mechanical Field.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive skill set, including:
- Advanced knowledge of tools, machinery, and safety hazard reporting.
- Strong planning, coordinating, and supervisory capabilities.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and computerised maintenance systems (OSIS).
- Fault-finding skills on diesel engines, refrigeration plants, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Basic knowledge of HR matters, labour relations, financial management, and project management.
- Excellent technical report writing, problem-solving, and communication skills in English.
- Computer literacy, including word processing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As an Artisan Foreman, your responsibilities will include:
- Allocating tasks and overseeing work performance within the section.
- Interpreting technical drawings and work dossiers to guide your team.
- Ordering and controlling miscellaneous stores and resources.
- Managing Section Island Maintenance Services and providing technical advice.
- Maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Managing advisory services and ensuring high standards of work.
