About the Role

The South African Navy is seeking a highly skilled and registered Engineering Technician to join the Fleet Command Headquarters in the picturesque naval port of Simon’s Town. This is a senior technical role focused on ensuring the logistical support and operational readiness of the Navy’s sophisticated systems. Key Requirements

To be considered for this prestigious position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A National Diploma in Engineering or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of 6 years of post-qualification technical experience.
  • Compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Proven experience in a Design Environment, Logistic Support Analysis, or Logistic Plans development is essential.
  • Experience in logistic support design, specification, verification, and knowledge of Support Baselines is highly advantageous.
  • Strong skills in Systems Engineering, verbal and written communication, analytical problem-solving, and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office suite and computer-aided engineering applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills with the ability to work under pressure.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

  • Participating in Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) activities.
  • Developing and contributing to comprehensive Logistic Plans.
  • Participating in the specification and verification of Logistic Support designs.
  • Supervising the development of Logistic Support Baselines for SA Navy systems.
  • Providing supervision and guidance to Logistic Engineering personnel.
  • Technical consulting, project management, and ensuring legal compliance in all engineering activities.

  • Using the incorrect Z83 form will result in disqualification.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months).
  • Applications for multiple posts require a separate Z83 and documentation for each.
  • The successful candidate will be subjected to Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal, citizenship, financial, qualification verification) and security clearance.
  • Appointment will be on a probationary period of 12 months.
