- Salary: R391,671 – R418,332 per annum
- Centre: Fleet Command HQ, SA Navy Hydrographic Office, Silvermine, Tokai

Key Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious role, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- A National Diploma in Geomatics (GISc), Cartography, or a Relevant Qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification GISc Technician experience.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Compulsory Registration with PLATO.
Desired Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in the Marine Cartography environment is a distinct advantage.
- Working knowledge of Geo-database implementation.
- Proficiency with GIS software applications and spatial data.
- A solid understanding of the theory, standards, principles, and practices of GIS and cartography.
- Excellent planning, organising, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Ability to utilise MS Office Suite and operate basic office equipment.
- Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally when required.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a GISc Technician at the Hydrographic Office, your duties will be critical to maritime navigation. You will be responsible for:
- Producing Paper Nautical Charts: Creating accurate and reliable charts for safe sea navigation.
- Maintaining Nautical Chart Reproduction Material: Ensuring all charting data and materials are up-to-date and preserved.
- Reproducing Paper Nautical Charts: Managing the high-quality printing and reproduction processes.
- Undertaking Print-on-Demand (POD) Requirements: Fulfilling specific chart requests efficiently.

Important Application Notes:
- You MUST use the newly prescribed Z83 application form (effective from 01 January 2021). It can be obtained from any Public Service Department office or downloaded from the DPSA website.
- Applications on the incorrect Z83 form will be disqualified.
- The Z83 must be originally signed, dated, and accompanied by a detailed CV.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit certified copies of qualifications (not older than six months).
