Do You Have What It Takes? Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualification: A three-year relevant tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Communication Science, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies, or Journalism.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory experience AND two (2) years of functional experience in media/public relations/marketing/communication services.
  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of Departmental Policies and Procedures, the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), basic knowledge of all legislation, Project Management, and the Batho Pele Principles.
  • Skills: Excellent planning and organizing, interpersonal, computer literacy, and communication skills. You must also be a proficient problem-solver, negotiator, and event manager.

Your Key Responsibilities: Duties

As the successful candidate, your duties will include:

  • Acting as the official spokesperson for the Department of Labour in the province, providing daily public relations and media liaison services.
  • Organizing bi-weekly stakeholder briefings and exhibitions.
  • Marketing the services of the Department on a monthly basis at a provincial level.
  • Managing internal communication daily, including notice boards, intranet updates, staff briefings, and producing an internal newsletter.
  • Coordinating and facilitating all internal and external provincial events, such as Imbizo outreach programmes and national commemorative days.
