The Western Cape Government Health’s Emergency Medical Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Administrative Officer to join their People Management team. Position Details

  • Position: Senior Administrative Officer (Labour Relations)

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Education: An appropriate 3-year National Diploma or Degree.
  • Experience: Appropriate experience in labour relations and appropriate supervisory experience.
  • Inherent Job Requirements: A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and a willingness to travel.

Key Competencies and Skills:

  • Computer literacy (MS Office package).
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent business writing skills.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of critical functions, including:

  • Providing expert advice and support on all Labour Relations matters.
  • Performing supervisory functions within the unit.
  • Facilitating and investigating employee grievances.
  • Managing the discipline process effectively.
  • Facilitating the effective functioning of the IMLC’s (Institutional Misconduct Liaison Committees).
  • Maintaining and reporting on detailed labour relations statistics.
  • Facilitating training for all staff on labour relations issues.
  • Assisting with preparation for conciliation and arbitration cases and representing the department where required.
