The Department of Employment and Labour is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill a critical Senior Facilities Manager position at its Head Office in Pretoria. This is a prestigious opportunity to manage significant capital projects and contribute to the maintenance of key state assets.
About the Role
This senior management role places you at the heart of the department’s infrastructure strategy. You will be responsible for leading a sub-directorate and overseeing all facets of facilities management, from multi-million rand projects to daily operational excellence. If you have a strategic mind and a hands-on approach to managing built environments, this role is for you.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualifications: A three-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or an Undergraduate Bachelor Degree (NQF 7) in a Built Environment field such as:
- Architecture Science
- Building Science
- Quantity Surveying
- Civil Engineering
- Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience, with at least two (2) years at a Middle Management level and three (3) years of functional experience in Facilities Management.
- A valid driver’s licence.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge: Government Facilities Management Processes, National Building Regulation Standards, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Government Immovable Asset Act (GIAMA), DPWI Space norms, Departmental policies, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, Public Service Act, and AutoCAD.
Skills: Project Management, Presentation, Interpersonal, Problem-solving, Computer Aided Drafting, Planning and Organizing, Facilitation, and Computer Literacy.
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
- Manage Capital Projects, Planned and unplanned maintenance, and refurbishment Projects for the Department.
- Manage the State-owned facilities portfolio of the Department.
- Manage the budget for Capital Projects and Municipal Services for State-owned Buildings.
- Develop and Manage the implementation of policies and procedures related to Facilities Management.
- Manage all resources (human, financial, equipment) within the Sub-Directorate.
