Position Details:
- Post: Medical Specialist Grade 1 to 3 (Internal Medicine) – Sessional (20 Sessions)
- Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services
- Contract Duration: 3 Years
- Location: Karl Bremer Hospital
- Closing Date: 21 February 2025
Competitive Hourly Salary:
Remuneration is based on your experience grade:
- Grade 1: R612 per hour
- Grade 2: R698 per hour
- Grade 3: R809 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
- Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine.
- Experience:
- Grade 1: No experience required after specialist registration.
- Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience after registration.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience after registration.
- A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
- Must be flexible to accommodate changes in your schedule.
Key Competencies and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Significant and appropriate experience in Internal Medicine.
- Excellent clinical expertise and a strong understanding of clinical governance.
- Proven skills in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Key Performance Areas (Duties):
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing specialist clinical services and comprehensive medical care to in-patients and out-patients.
- Academic teaching and training of medical staff and students.
- Participating in and providing outreach services at primary and district levels.
- Managing relevant clinical governance and administrative requirements.
- Completing and submitting all necessary medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes.
- Fulfilling the required Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities to maintain HPCSA registration.
