About the Role

The Department of Labour is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join their team as an Employment Equity Inspector. This critical role focuses on ensuring that employers comply with employment equity legislation, promoting fair labour practices in the Limpopo province. This is a fantastic opportunity for a legal or HR professional to build a meaningful career in public service.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Qualifications: A National Diploma in Labour Law (NQF6), Advanced Labour Law (NQF7), a Post Graduate qualification in Labour Law (NQF8), a Law Degree, or a BCOM Law.
  • Experience: One (1) to two (2) years of functional experience in Employment Equity inspections is a significant advantage.
  • License: A valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of Departmental policies and procedures, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, Batho Pele Principles, Compensation for Occupational Injuries & Diseases Act, Employment Services Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, and UI Contributions Act.
  • Skills: Excellent planning and organizing, computer literacy, conflict handling, problem-solving, interviewing, presentation, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting Employment Equity (EE) procedural inspections and DG reviews to ensure employer compliance with EE legislation.
  • Engaging with non-compliant employers to enforce adherence to the law.
  • Conducting advocacy campaigns on the Employment Equity Act (EEA) and analysing their impact.
  • Contributing to the planning, drafting, and maintenance of Provincial inspection schedules.
  • Assisting in ensuring that quality inspection files are referred to the Principal Inspector and identifying challenges to advise on solutions.
