About the Role
The Department of Labour is seeking a highly skilled and creative Graphic Design and Media Production Specialist to join their Head Office team in Pretoria. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified professional to apply their expertise in a dynamic public service environment, contributing to the department’s visual communication and branding efforts.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognized by SAQA in one of the following fields:
- Media Production
- Graphic Design
- Media Studies
- Multimedia
- Brand Design Communication
- Web Development
- A valid driver’s licence will be a distinct advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of functional experience in graphic design and/or media production.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Apple Mac Platform and its software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and QuarkXPress.
- PC platform and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Photography and photographic equipment.
- Printing processes and requirements.
- Public Service regulations.
Skills Required:
- Design, layout, and strategic conceptualization.
- Adaptive to change (software, organizational, machinery).
- Service delivery innovation and excellent time management.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
- Client orientation, project management, and problem-solving.
- Negotiation and computer literacy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting and using systems to ensure efficient production of publicity material.
- Designing and laying out all departmental publicity material.
- Coordinating the quotations process for publications.
- Preparing artwork for social media platforms and for printing.
- Executing photography for in-house departmental events.
